A shout out to all pharmacists—you NEED to be at PAINWeekEnd!

Fellow Pharmacy Colleague,

Year after year, I’m continually impressed with the commitment of pharmacists who have chosen to focus their careers on the care of individuals living with acute and chronic pain. To that end, PAINWeek and PAINWeekEnd continue to lead the way with predominant focus on interprofessional education directed toward pharmacists, even benchmarking a track dedicated to practical and current practice issues important to us!

Rhode Island is one of the very few states where drug overdose deaths have declined in recent years,1 very much unlike the rest of our country. As a clinician living in the “ground zero” of the opioid crisis, my home state of West Virginia, I truly admire the countless efforts put forth to truly shift the tide of the opioid crisis in Rhode Island. What better place to hold a PAINWeekEnd then where the tide is strongest: Providence, Rhode Island!

The agenda at PAINWeekEnd Providence is led by some of the nation’s most highly respected and gifted pain management experts including David Cosio, PhD, ABPP; Alexandra McPherson, PharmD, MPH; and David Glick, DC, DAAPM, CPE, FASPE. The continuing education sessions in Providence will focus on the most current and relevant issues in pain management by discussing the basics of pain pathways, venture into pain and addiction issues, intimately review multiple classes of pain management medications, and then even venturing into the international, ever-growing controversial topic of marijuana.
